In the Hall of the Mountain King — right-hand melody

Play Grieg’s famous creeping troll melody from Peer Gynt in A minor with your right hand.

Try it at the keyboard

  1. Start slowly and detached, like footsteps tiptoeing through a dark cave.
  2. Watch out for bar 2: the first three notes use D♯ and B, then the second half shifts down to D natural and B♭/G♯.
  3. Once every note is secure, try increasing the tempo slightly on a repeat — just like Grieg’s accelerando.
